The use of fibre products in African society stretches back to the Iron Age, and once included the skill of knotting watertight baskets for storing liquids. Certain traditional items such as sleeping mats (icansi) and beer strainers (ivovo) are still commonly made in rural households today.
Inina built a business using these skills and we now produce conference bags, file covers and a range of other woven products suitable for the fashion and conference markets. Our bags are woven from two types of indigenous sedges known as ikhwane and induma.
